Milwaukee Montage I: Favorite Landmarks

Limited Edition, signed Giclee’ print of Erin Callahan Blum’s original watercolor “Milwaukee Montage I:  Favorite Landmarks.”  Archival cotton paper and archival inks will provide collectors with generations of enjoyment. The blues help to bring the outdoor sky colors into your environment.

Erin is fascinated with Milwaukee’s architectural masterpieces and their unique details.  She loves surprising her viewers with her technique by placing The Milwaukee Center atop NML’s building’s pillar, and the Marquette University Memorial Union blended into Allen-Bradley’s clock.  This piece will be especially wanted as she recently released “Milwaukee Montage II:  Milwaukee The Beautiful:  I.”

Also represented are:  The Milwaukee Arena, Milwaukee Public Library (eagle), City Hall, the Pfister Hotel tower, Wisconsin Gas Company, the Milwaukee Center, Pabst Theater, St. Josaphat Basilica, The Hoan Bridge, Lake Michigan (sailboat), Milwaukee County and Historical Society (ornate window), Historic Third Ward, Plaza East Office Center, Mitchell Park Domes, Milwaukee County War Memorial, First Wisconsin Bank (now U S Bank), the “bridge house” over the Milwaukee River on the way to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the period carriage rides through downtown, and the Bradley Center.

Concert in the Park

Parks on rivers invoke memories for many of us, whether you grew up near one and watched movies in the attached shelter for a nickel, or when converted into a winter warming house, and laced your skates to have fun on the River. Fireworks off the east river-bank and High School’s Summer Concerts were some of our favored memories.  Not to mention mouth watering Lion’s Club Chicken, events with dripping-with-butter corn and Polka Music.  Memorial Day Parade destination and speeches, our beloved Fire Department’s barrel fight, family reunions, and even water ski shows stick with many of us.  The park is the final landing for the Jaycees Canoe Race and adventurous family canoe trips.

The renewed use of this charming setting for Gala’s Concerts in the Park reminded me of my love for our town.  When I looked at the setting through “artist’s eyes”, I discovered a panoramic view of 3 of our unique sites:  the vintage band shelter, the historic mill and our Veteran’s War Memorial.  By adding people to the second painting, the energy of the community and the nostalgic peace of the scene combine to record Grafton as a friendly community in which to live.  I hope many others can relate to such a place and take this setting into their home.
